Restoration of the ancient Capilla del Rosario at the northwest corner of the Ajijic plaza is near enough to completion that a reopening celebration has been scheduled for Tuesday, April 30.
The festive return of the chapel’s main resident, an antique statue of Our Lady of the Rosary, will begin with the celebration of a 6 p.m. Mass at the San Andrés Parish, where the figure has been stored for the last three years.
After the service the cherished image of the Virgin will be paraded around village streets leading into a triumphal welcome at the chapel altar.
