Live Music

• Rudy Chávez, guitarist of the acclaimed group Maraventho-Gipsy Latino, will perform a free concert Sunday, February 25, 12:30 p.m. a the Centro Cultural Gonzalez Gallo in Chapala. Chavez is a world music guitarist with a professional career since 1998, and a founder of Maraventho Gipsy Latino, a project with which since 2002, has presented more than 1,200 concerts at the country’s main cultural festivals.

• Fresh Air Jazz with Paul Silverman, Wayne Watson, Kristine Leigh, Sergio Casas and Rod Struss, every Monday, 6 to 8 p.m. at La Estacion Bakery and Pizza in Riberas del Pilar. Cover: 50 pesos.

• Wednesday, February 28, The Crooners will perform at a dinner buffet concert catered by The Blue Rose as a fundraiser to support the girls at the Love In Action Center. The event is on the grounds of Villa Tortuga, Manglar 155 in Villa Nova,  from 4 to 7 p.m. A glass of bubbly on arrival, a fun raffle and a wine pull are part of the show. • Blue Jay Slim and the Blues Machine perform at 4to Sentido restaurant, Friday, March 1, 4 p.m. Tickets, 400 pesos, available at the restaurant.

• Echoes: A Pink Floyd Tribute will be held at the Centro de la Cultura y las Artes de Ribera, Saturday, March 16, 7 p.m. and Tuesday, April 9, 9 p.m. Tickets, 300 pesos pre-sale and 350 pesos at the door, are available at voyalteatro.com as of early March.

• Lakeside Little Theatre presents “The Price” by Arthur Miller, directed by Monnie King and Peter King, March 1 to 10.

• Bare Stage Theatre re-opens with a scintillating collection of three absurd and engaging sketches about relationships by playwrights Jules Feiffer, Shel Silverstein and Peter Manos.

The trio of short works are: “A Tale Of Two Spectators” by Manos, “One Tennis Shoe” by Silverstein and “Feiffer’s People: Sketches and Observations” by Feiffer.

Directed by Suki O’Brien, the cast includes M.A. Bruneau, Donna Burroughs, Jeff Kingsbury, Kristine Leigh, Maloy Murdock and Mark Nichols.

Shows are Friday to Sunday, March 1 to 3, 4 p.m. at their new location at St. Andrew’s Anglican Church, San Lucas 19,  in Riberas del Pilar.

Classes

• Efren Gonzalez offers an oil painting workshop February 27 to March 1, 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and a watercolor workshop, March 12 and 13, from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Classes cost 8,000 pesos, all material included. Call 331-703-3942.

• Jazz and improvisation monthly workshop with Arne Wernink and Sofia Ramirez. Basic to moderately advance jazz progressions, rhythm, styles, etc. for 2&1/2 hours. Cochera Cultural

La Cochera Cultural celebrates its 10th anniversary with a first fundraising gala Saturday, March 2, 5 to 9 p.m. The 1,500-peso ticket price includes welcome cocktails and appetizers; a three-course dinner created by chef Oscar Perez (main course and desert preselection available); live performances by Juan Castañón, Eleazar Soto, Emilia Gálvez, Leonor Zertuche, Gilberto Ríos and Sergio Hernandez; a silent auction and a select live auction.

Proceeds will benefit the Festival de la Michi-Cihualli, (March 13 and 14, 2024)—La Cochera Cultural’s free annual festival to honor the traditions of Ajijic— and a scholarship program for ommunity programming and education for neighborhood children and families. Audition

Bare Stage Theatre will hold an audition for two upcoming shows, and for shows during the rest of the season. There are parts for three men (45-70 years) and two women (70-90 years and 45-70 years) to be cast for the April and November shows: “Best Brothers” by Daniel MacIvor and “My Old Lady” by Israel Horovitz.
