Cookoff
The 13th Annual American Legion Auxiliary Unit 7 Chili Cookoff is set for Thursday, January 10. Cocktails begin at 4 p.m. and dinner at 5 p.m. The menu will include chili, homemade corn bread, cole slaw and ice cream for dessert. Tickets are 80 pesos in advance. Those who participate in the contest pay only 40 pesos.
The plunge
The shivers and goose bumps will get started just after noon on Tuesday, January 1 at the Beer Garden Restaurant on the Chapala malecon.
Christmas dinner
The folks at Lakeside Wildlife Rescue and Rehabilitation will once again remember local firefighters by taking them a Christmas dinner at the station.
Postponed
The Tarahumara Fashion Show and Christmas Party slated for December 16 has been postponed until mid-January. Those who have already purchased tickets may contact Libby Townsend at 766-1167 for a refund or hang on to them as they will be honored at the January event.
Quizzes
Niños Incapacitados del Lago has made the Trivia Quiz event an annual tradition. This year, the date is Saturday, January 15 at the Salon Eucaliptos at Hotel Real de Chapala in La Floresta. The afternoon quiz will begin at 2 p.m. and the evening quiz at 6:30 p.m. No food will be provided, so bring your own munchies. A cash bar will open 30 minutes before each quiz session.
How to get registered
Canadian Vice Consul Patrick Courcelles (left) and Ana Bara, Consular Officer, will hold a seminar on Canada’s program for registering Canadians living abroad. They will discuss the benefits and give a demonstration on how to register in ten minutes. The date and time are Thursday, December 13, 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the Sala of the Lake Chapala Society.
