Ribera Arts Review - May 11, 2024

CREM

A concert by the local music school CREM choir and children’s choir to benefit the music studio of the Centro de la Cultura y la Artes de la Ribera (CCAR) will be held Saturday, May 11, 7 p.m. at CCAR. Tickets, 200 pesos, are available at the CCAR box office.

Choral music at LLT

• The Mayahuel Women’s Choir will perform “Between the Sacred and the Profane,” an eclectic program of choral song  Sunday, May 12, 4 p.m.

• The Chamber Choir of the Universidad de Guadalajara Music Department will perform “Habaneras and Polyphonies,” Sunday, May 12, 6:30 p.m.

Song and dance

A Night at the Opera on Broadway is the theme of two shows to be held at La Estacion Sourdough Pizza and Bakery performance space above Panchos Market in Riberas del Pilar, Saturday, May 11, from 6 to 8 p.m. and Sunday, May 12, 4 to 6 p.m. The show features opera, Broadway tunes and ballet. Four performances from the students of Joven Ballet HH will also be included in the show. A portion of the proceeds from these two shows will go toward this ballet company to aid in establishing free ballet classes to lakeside children. Tickets, 300 pesos, are available at Huerto Café, Mia’s Boutique and La Estacion.

Summer Sounds

Madama Butterfly is the last MET Live in HD opera to be screened at the Lakeside Little Theatre, Saturday to Monday, May 25-27, with shows at 4 p.m. Sung in Italian, Met titles in English. Movies at BRAVO!

Coming up at the BRAVO! Theatre in Riberas del Pilar are “Cool Hand Luke” Wednesday, May 15 and “The Princess Bride,” Thursday, May 16, both showing at 4 p.m. For every 250-peso ticket sold, BRAVO! will contribute 100 pesos to Bone Voyage to save the dogs.
