Denim and Diamonds

The Lakeside scholarship program SAFE (Save A Future Through Education) is responsible for providing an education to more than 120 students at Lakeside.

pg16aStudents are identified at a young age and as long as they maintain a good grade point average they are supported through high school graduation. Two students currently in the program are Maria de Jesus, who is 14 and currently completing Grade 9 with a 10/10 average. Her future goals are as yet undetermined.

Kevin is 15 years old and completing Grade 9 with an 8.8/10 average.  He works on the weekends to help his family. His goal is to become an aeronautical or agronomic engineer.

Every year a joint fundraiser with the Chapala Sunrise Rotary Club is a major source of funds for this organization. This year, the event will be held at the Raquet Club on Friday, March 22 from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m.
