Weekly Worship - March 23, 2024

Little Chapel by the Lake

Sunday’s Worship will center around praising our Lord in Worship and song, followed by the sermon by Pastor Thomas.

Little Chapel is located on the Ajijic-Chapala Highway 10 in Chula Vista. Sunday service begins at 11 a.m. A Grace meal is held after the service. All are invited to say and fellowship.

Little Chapel information: 331-307-0669.

Donations for our mission in San Juan Tecomatlan are always gladly accepted via the big purple box in front of the Chapel. Thank you for continuing to contribute via your donations. The next outreach is Tuesday, April 2, where we invite the village of San Juan Tecomatlan to a bazaar to help the food program in their town.

Tuesday at 4:30 p.m., a small group will be meeting for a Bible study in the book of Hebrews.

Thursday at 10 a.m., a Bible Study on the book of Revelation in the fellowship hall will be led by Pastor Thomas. Anyone is welcome to drop in for the Study.

Friday, the conversational Spanish class meets at 1 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall. (Beginners welcome.)

Unitarian Universalist Fellowship

Sunday, March 24, noon, Pam Cucinell will speak on “Let’s Feel Good! Mark the Spring Equinox.”

Here in the Northern Hemisphere, the Spring Equinox is March 19. In a world gone mad, how do we restore balance? A recognition of the Equinox emphasizes the importance of daily encounters with our natural world. From her perspective as an astrologer, Pamela Cucinell discusses why so many cultures value this time, and why we might want to as well. The Spring Equinox reminds us that continual adjustments are needed to strive for balance. Colleen Beery is the service associate.

Sunday, March 31, Rev. Matt Alspaugh will present “He Is Risen—Thinking about the Resurrection.”

“He is risen,” some of my Christian friends would tell me on Easter Sunday. Christ’s resurrection from the dead is one of the most central elements of Christian faith. Yet we are given few details about the resurrection event itself in the Christian Bible. Instead, the story has been fleshed out in words and images in later times. We’ll explore what these say about the resurrection, and how it might be interpreted in a way more meaningful for us today. Michael Swords is the service associate.

Sunday, April 7 is “Hearts of Service Volunteer Appreciation Sunday.”

Join us as we gather to honor the incredible spirit of service within the Lake Chapala Unitarian Universalist Fellowship. This will be a heartfelt expression of appreciation and gratitude to all those who generously contribute their time, talents, and compassion to create a vibrant and welcoming faith community.

Sunday service is  at  noon, at the Lake Chapala Unitarian Universalist Fellowship’s new location at San Luis 19 in Riberas del Pilar (one block south of the previous address).

Heritage Baptist Church

Psalm 8:4a says, “What is man that you are mindful of him?” To consider that the God who created all would take notice of us seems presumptuous. To know He does, is overwhelming. You are made in God’s image. You have dignity. You have worth. You have purpose. Whatever gifts, abilities, and opportunities you possess, God gave you to develop and use for His glory and for the good of others. In our culture we waste a lot of time.  Time, which is what life is made of, so mankind is prone to waste a lot of life, neglecting our gifts and merely passing the time entertaining ourselves to death. We were created for more. We were created to glorify Him and enjoy Him forever, but our bent is to resist Him or ignore Him. Jesus lived the perfect life we could not achieve. Jesus suffered for us the death we deserved because of our sin.  As the infinite God, his death was sufficient for all who trust Him to save them.

Heritage Baptist Church meets at La Estacion above Pancho’s Deli, 2nd floor, Hidalgo 75, Riberas del Pilar. Sunday’s service is at 11 a.m. Bible study is every Wednesday, 2 p.m. Information: 331-437-7281 or 333-016-3743, This email address is being protected from spambots.
