Met Live

The first Met Live Opera simulcast from New York in 2024 is Florencia en el Amazonas.

Sung in Spanish and inspired by the magical realism of Gabriel García Márquez, Mexican composer Daniel Catán’s 1996 opera tells the enchanting story of an opera diva who returns to her native South America to perform at the legendary opera house of Manaus—and to search for her lost lover, who has vanished into the jungle.  Conjunto Santander de las Artes, Saturday, January 13, noon. 200 pesos.

Battleship Potemkin & OFJ

The “reinauguration” of the exterior Ágora Jenkins arena at the Conjunto Santander de las Artes cultural complex sees the screening of Sergei Eisenstein’s masterpiece “Battleship Potemkin,” one of the most emblematic films in the history of cinema. The film will accompanied live by the Jalisco Philharmonic Orchestra, under the direction of José Luis Castillo. Conjunto Santander de las Artes, Saturday, January 20, 7:30 p.m. 200-270 pesos.

Chamber orchestra

The Universidad de Guadalajara’s Orquesta de Cámara Higinio Ruvalcaba  (chamber orchestra) presents a concert featuring “danzon” pieces.
