Trompo Magico Mark 2 ready for prime time

Although the construction and refurbishment of the new Jalisco Interactive Museum (Japi), which replaces the old Trompo Mágico Children’s Museum, is complete, Jalisco Governor Enrique Alfaro says the opening now won’t take place until early June.

pg12cThe reason, he said, is the restriction  on “large events” promoting government works during election campaigns.

Alfaro had originally said the new venue would open its doors on April 30, Dia del Niño, which is also the 21st anniversary of the opening of the Trompo Magico.

Alfaro took a tour of the new museum this week marveling and trying out many of the 90 interactive and innovative exhibits, including virtual and augmented reality.

The theme of the new space will pay tribute to the state of Jalisco, its symbols of identity, its culture and history, its most prominent and iconic characters, and its natural, cultural and historical riches.
