Art

Art has always been an essential part of May Cultural Festival activities. This year’s Paseo Escultórico (Sculpture Walk) showcases 16 public pieces that will be installed in the plazas facing the Guadalajara Cathedral and the Santuario de Guadalupe in the city center.

1200°, an exhibit of contemporary ceramics, will be up at the Museo Pantaleón Panduro in Tlaquepaque from May 8 to 31.

Nineteen works by local artist Dionysos (Alejandro Loera) inspired by Friedrich Nietzsche will be on show at the Palacio Municipal de Zapopan also  from May 8 to 31.

The event will also incorporate its own “3D”Madonnari Street Painting Festival at various locations in Zapopan, where seven Mexican artists will create ephemeral artworks on the pavement using chalk or pastels. The artists will work between May 8 and June 8 in these popular locations: the Glorieta Chapalita, Zapopan Centro, Unidad Administrativa Zapopan Sur, Parque de las Niñas y los Niños and the Centro Cultural Constitución, as well as four other sites in other parts of the municipality.
